January Alumni Competition – Watertown Parks
Leadership Wilson Alumni - Class Competition for January!
The children of Watertown need your help and a safe place to play!
The Three Forks playground in Watertown hasn’t been updated in over 30 years and is quickly becoming a safety hazard and a liability issue. Our goal is to raise enough money to replace the existing playground with brand new equipment that is more inclusive and accessible for everyone. So far we’ve raised $60,000, but need an additional $27,000 to make it happen. We can easily hit this goal with participation from each Leadership Wilson class!!
We’ve decided to have a contest between Leadership Wilson Alumni so we can finally answer the question—who really is the Best Class Ever!??
The Three Forks Park facilities are currently enjoyed by over 330 children who participate in the Watertown sports league. These athletes, along with their families spend a great deal of time at the park. According to the latest annual Coordinated School Health BMI data, 40% of elementary-aged school children in Watertown are obese. At Watertown Middle School, 36% of 6th graders and 42% of 8th graders are also in the obese BMI category (this does not include students with an overweight BMI).
Having newer, updated playground facilities would help increase local athlete participation rates and give Watertown’s families and children greater opportunity stay active!
Contest is the entire month of January 2020. The Class participants that raise the most donations and sponsorships will be awarded Best Class Ever hats and free lunch at the LW Alumni Luncheon. All funds already accounted for will not be part of the contest.
