Current Activities / Involvement

I am on the Board of Directors and Secretary for the City of Mt. Juliet Industrial Development Board. I am on the Board of Directors for Eastern Middle TN Association of Realtors. I am a volunteer driver for Wilson Rides. I am a member of the Mt. Juliet Chamber of Commerce. I actively support the Mt. Juliet Sr. Activity Center, Mt. Juliet Help Center and various other local United Way charities by hosting an auction fund raiser every fall at the office to benefit those charites.

Major Barriers

Time and work load are the most challenging factors. I try to go to local event supporting local charities, businesses, etc., but I would like to get involved on a regular basis in a more meaningful way.

Community Challenge / Issue / Goal

One particular challenge that I've seen is that we need more affordable housing for first time homebuyers. Our children go off to college, then return and want to live in their hometown, yet they can't afford it. It's a national problem, but one that we need to address. Affordability had a big impact in 2022, reducing the share of first-time buyers to 26% — the lowest it's been since the National Association of Realtors began tracking this data. As a real estate professional, I would like to work with City and County leaders to discuss possible solutions or ways to entice developers to build some first time homebuyer communities.
