My job requires a lot of community interaction, especially with the Chamber. We are also involved in Everyone's Wilson, church and bible study, and have visited the Kiwanis lunch group. I am involved in the newly created City of Lebanon Industrial Development Board.
I feel like clear communication is a crucial issue for many people and businesses. People seemingly strive to avoid working with others and don't feel comfortable opening themselves up to help or be helped. This, oftentimes, leads to us not being successful in exchanging ideas, expressing our opinions and life experiences, and developing problem-solving strategies. To me, this means someone is ultimately not achieving their personal potential and not continually striving for greatness. I am not OK with all this mediocrity. I hope to learn new leadership skills, build strong relationships, and improve my level of networking to help move the needle on successful community communication.
