Major Barriers

For the past 8 years, I have focused on building my career which has been within a corporate setting. This included a fair amount of traveling throughout the country and temporarily took my attention and focus away from my community. In addition, during this time I had a new family starting out with two young children which were also primary focus.

With my recent leave of absence from my job and my children being a little older now, I have more time and support to pursue additional interests and involvement within the community.

Community Challenge / Issue / Goal

One area of concern I have is the adequate access to local area daycares, pre-schools, summer and after-care opportunities, and alternative educational facilities for our children. As Wilson County continues to grow, my hope is that there will be more facilities and programs to support the number of children and young families, in addition to the public-school systems, within the area without the fear of long waitlists and extended timelines for access. I do not have the exact answer to support the possible solution, but I have felt encouraged in recent years seeing a blend of local and national organizations choosing Lebanon as a place to grow and expand their business offerings for this area of need. It has also been encouraging to see the expansion of the public school system and its evolution throughout the area. I hope we can continue to identify ways to support local families throughout Wilson County because it really is a wonderful place to live and have a family.

In college I participated in Zeta Tau Alpha Sorority (2009 - 2013) and was an active member of the executive committee for various elected roles (Vice President and Historian) and maintained positions on the National Panhellenic Council as Vice President of Recruitment (2010-2013). During this time, I helped lead and plan initiatives for our sorority and the campus sororities as a whole throughout the community and on campus. This included volunteer days, food drives, blood drives, recruitment weeks, charity events such as 5ks, breakfast, luncheons, annual Zeta Day event.

Company / Job Responsibilities

My role as a project management lead is center around collaboratively leading all functional areas of a clinical trial. This includes all financial affairs, regulatory, clinical operations, data management, strategy and planning aspects of the trial. I have recently chosen to take a leave of absence from my position at Labcorp to focus on my family and future career endeavors which may or may not include a return to this same position.

Participation Expectations

I have lived in Wilson County for a long time and would love the opportunity to become more educated on certain segments on the county that I may not be very educated in right now. I also value the opportunity to improve my leadership skills and community connections.
